The Social Science PGR Faculty Forum

A faculty of Social Sciences PGR Student Staff Committee was set up in late 2009. The committee was student led and made up of the PGR student representatives from each of the 13 departments within the Faculty.

In Summer 2011, the committee was replaced by the Social Science PGR Faculty Forum. Running on the same model as the previous committee, it meets up to twice a semester to address issues affecting PGR students across the faculty. As well as representatives from all departments in the faculty, Chengzhi Peng, Faculty Director of PGR Student Affairs, additionally sits on the forum and other members of staff are regularly asked to attend to advise on specific issues.Faculty PGRs

The main aim of the forum is to establish a network amongst PGRs within the Faculty. We want to create a platform for exchanging and promoting the sharing of experiences and ideas amongst PGRs from all disciplines within the Faculty.

The forum has successfully bidded for funding from the university's Robert's money to support novel PGR researcher training and support events, and held a launch event for these events in October 2012. More details about upcoming events and plans for the Robert's funding can be found here.

If you are a research student in the Faculty of Social Sciences and are interested in helping us organise any of these events, or have any suggestions of how we could promote a network amongst PGRs in the Faculty please contact the chairs of the committee:
