Academic Writing Group
Academic writing and publishing is key to any career progression in academia, whether it be getting your next postdoc, applying for a grant or fellowship, and succeeding in obtaining a lectureship.
So, what are you doing about it?
How many hours a week, a day do you allocate to your academic writing?
You may say: "I have not got the time", "I have not got enough data", "I don't have the confidence".
Scholarly writing is an integral part of academic research. We believe that engaging in the writing process throughout your research is key in enhancing your effectiveness and confidence and in supporting your development as a young academic.
Writing does not need to be a solitary activity.
The Academic Writing Group is:
- Postdoctoral researcher- led group
- Peer support group providing an enthusiastic and supportive environment for Early Career Researchers to develop their writing skills and portfolio
- A framework for you to increase your writing ouputs
- A monthly sharing of writing which provides impetus to establish your writing in your daily academic activities
- A structure to establish personal schedules of writing with short terms writing goals
Programme structure
- Monthly meetings (1.5-2h sessions)
- Sessions structured around key themes chosen by the group
