Science and Engineering Champions

The Science and Engineering Champions are a group of 80 University of Sheffield students, predominantly undergraduate, who are dedicated to promoting STEM subjects to young people.

They work with the University's Outreach and Access section on a range of activities as well as with their own departments. Since the scheme started in 2008, the Champions have worked with young people on STEM taster days, mentored students on residential weekends, created video profiles for the web, developed and delivered academic sessions for inward school visits, revisited their old schools to give talks, represented the University at careers fairs and much more.

All Champions have a CRB check, have received training on working with schools and young people, are registered as University bank workers, and most have experience of working on previous outreach events. If you would like any champions to act as ambassadors then please contact Claire Wilkinson.
