The faculty is committed to excellence in research and is conducting internationally excellent research in all of its nine departments. Research sponsors include UK Research Councils, UK and international charities, the UK government, the EU, UK industry, the NHS and many more. In the UK 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, the faculty was ranked 11th in the UK for Research power. Five Departments are ranked in the top 10 in the UK.

Research StoriesThe Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health brings together the strengths of nine research departments. Since its inception in 1905, the Faculty of Medicine has played a prominent role in the academic development of the University and is able to make a major contribution to the socio-economic circumstances of the South Yorkshire sub-region.
