Education and Training

An important component of the NIHR Sheffield CRF is to provide a programme of education and training for researchers, research nurses and research trainees to promote the NIHR Sheffield CRF as a centre of excellence for research conduct.

Facilities for training are available at both the RHH and NGH CRF’s in the fully equipped Seminar Rooms that can seat up to 15. Alternatively by arrangement, the NIHR Sheffield CRF Training and Education Programme can be delivered to investigators and their teams in their own research area.

The Lead Nurse and Matron have specific responsibility for the development and strategic direction of the CRF Education Programme. All Trust research nurses have responsibility for their research practice to the Lead Nurse. On appointment new research nurses spend time in the NIHR Sheffield CRF working alongside experienced practitioners before beginning work in their research area. This ensures all research nurses have strong links with the NIHR Sheffield CRF team and are involved in sharing best practice.

The NIHR Sheffield CRF has created a research nurse training post which gives nurses the opportunity to gain clinical research experience within the NIHR Sheffield CRF and on elective to specialist research areas whilst benefitting from a structured programme with competency assessment and full supervision and support.

Development & Education Programme

A development and education programme has been created by the NIHR Sheffield CRF to assist researchers and their teams to comply with Research Governance and legislative requirements. The sessions within the programme are available to all Investigators and their research teams and aim to introduce practical help for compliance with regulatory requirements.

If you are interested in accessing any of the programmes, please contact Philippa ledger on 0114 271 3339 to book your session.
