Engineering at the University of Sheffield
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield is already competing to be one of the best Engineering faculties in the UK showing strong recruitment figures for new undergraduate and postgraduate students. Our strong links with industry allow our students to benefit from the latest research and pursue early career opportunities across our courses from our seven departments.
Undergraduate courses are suited towards students who do not currently hold a degree or graduates interested in pursing other educational paths.
Undergraduate students can choose to study three year (BEng) or four year (MEng) degrees with any of our departments.

Postgraduate Taught Students
Postgraduate taught courses are suited towards graduates wishing to further their education.
Typically, courses last for one calendar year and upon completion, lead to an MSc qualification. Courses are offered by all of our departments.

Postgraduate Research Students
Postgraduate research is suited towards graduates wishing to explore a topic in detail usually over a three to four year period, typically leading to a PhD qualification upon completion.
Opportunities are available with all of our departments and each departmental website has detailed information on project titles, supervisors, how to apply and information on funding.
We also have a bold new approach to PhD training running five Doctoral Training Centres (DTCs) through EPSRC funding.
Further Teaching and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Many of our courses at all levels provide opportunities for linking with other subjects to provide our students with a desirable skill set and well rounded education. Popular options include management, business and enterprise, a year in industry, a modern foreign language and study abroad.
