Looking at Language: a journey through the history and life of language

Professor David Crystal

The author of The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language, Txtng: the Gr8 Db8, and now A Little Book of Language, will talk about hot topics in language (from babytalk to bilingualism, dialects to dictionaries, texts to tweets) and how to make talking about them accessible to young readers.

Young people of secondary school age are especially invited to attend this lecture.

Rhyme & Reason has mounted a small exhibition of books by David Crystal in the foyer of Jessop West, and if you are interested, you can request a David Crystal booklist from enquiries@rhyme-reason.co.uk.

There will be a book stall before the event from 6.45pm and book signing afterwards.
