Graduation January 2012 - How to Register your Intentions
Students are expected to submit their intentions regarding their graduation ceremony before results are published. If your student record indicates that you are expected to graduate in January 2012, you must let us know whether you wish to attend your graduation ceremony, or if you wish to graduate in absentia and have your certificate posted to you.
You must let us know your intentions using the link on the right hand side of this page and you will need your MUSE username and password in order to log in to the system. The deadline for us to receive your intentions is Friday 28 October.
To register your intentions:
- Click on the 'Registration Forms' link on the right hand side of this page
- Log in using your MUSE username and password
- Select whether or not you wish to attend the ceremony
- Complete the form and click ‘submit’
- If you have any queries with any part of the registration form, see our FAQ pages in the first instance. Alternatively, if you cannot find an answer, email the Events Team on graduation@sheffield.ac.uk
When you register your intentions you will also be able to apply for guest tickets (if you are attending the ceremony) and the registration also serves as confirmation of your personal details (eg confirmation of your name as it will appear in the ceremony programme and on your certificate).
If you are not attending in person, this process will enable you to confirm your personal details and to provide the address where your certificate should be posted to.
It is important that you inform the Events Team of your ceremony intentions by the deadline of 28 October. Based on the registrations we have received at that point, preliminary seating plans will be drawn up. We will then release any available seats to other candidates on the waiting list. Therefore if you have not registered by the deadline, it will not be possible for us to include you in the ceremony as we will not have a seat for you.
If you find you can no longer attend graduation, it is imperative that you advise us as soon as possible. You can do this by completing the short form on the following web page www.shef.ac.uk/eventsteam/changeofintention.html
Your Name
When you open up the online registration form, your name will be shown. This is taken from your student record and will be the name printed in the graduation ceremony programme and on your certificate.
If your name is incorrect, do not register for graduation until you have had it corrected. You should contact the Student Services Information Desk (SSiD) with documentary evidence (ie, originals of either your deed poll document, passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate) and, if appropriate, your student record will be amended. Only then should you register your graduation intentions. Please ensure that you register by the deadline. We cannot extend the deadline for any reason, so do not delay if you need to amend your name. This is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY and changes cannot be made at a later date.
For more details on how to amend your name, please see www.shef.ac.uk/ssid/record/name.html
