Conferments In Absentia

Occasionally, students do not complete their course of study in time for inclusion in the programmed ceremonies. Therefore, in order not to deprive them of their degree certificate unnecessarily, in absentia conferments are arranged periodically so that the degrees can be conferred and the certificates released prior to attendance at a ceremony.

The students are eligible, and will be invited, to attend the next appropriate ceremony.

MBChB and BDS Students

After the Final Board of Examiners has met, In Absentia Conferments are held each July, prior to the Summer Graduation Ceremonies. The University Seal is applied to the lists of students and these are then forwarded to the GMC and GDC in order for them to grant provisional registration for the students to practise. The students are eligible, and will already have been invited, to attend the Summer Graduation Ceremonies in the normal way.
