Assessment of Work
Erasmus students are assessed in the same way as all other University of Sheffield students. This means that they must sit examinations and complete written work as set by the academic department delivering their modules.
Examinations normally consist of a written or practical test to be completed within a set period of time (for example, two or three hours). They are held in strict silence and invigilated by University staff.
Some modules are assessed by essay only. Make sure you find out when the final day for submitting your essay is as soon as you can.
Some Erasmus students work on a thesis or project. This MUST have be approved and arranged well before the beginning of term.
Plagiarism and Collusion
You MUST read the University regulations and guidance about plagiarism and collusion before commencing your studies here. The rules apply to all students registered at the University of Sheffield - including exchange students.

When will I receive my grades?
A statement of results will be sent to your permanent home address via our Taught Programmes Office AFTER you have left Sheffield. The mailings normally happen as follows:
- Late March (for those leaving Sheffield in February)
- Late July (for those leaving Sheffield in June)
Please ensure to update your permanent home address in MUSE just before you leave Sheffield to ensure that your statement is sent to the right place:
Instructions on how to update your address in MUSE
You will be able to access MUSE for one month following your departure from Sheffield. You will therefore be able to view your grades online once they have been added to your record.
Please be patient and allow some time for the grades to be decided upon and added to your record.
Autumn semester grades are normally published in MUSE in mid-March. Spring semester grades are normally published in MUSE in mid-July.
An Important Note on Grades for Postgraduate Modules
The deadline for tutors to issue grades for postgraduate modules is in November each year.
Please be aware that if you sign up for postgraduate modules only, a statement of results will not be issued until then.
If you sign up for a combination of postgraduate and undergraduate modules, it is likely that the postgraduate grades will be missing on your statement of results. In that case, a second statement will be issued to you in November containing all of the grades (when they will have become available).
I need my postgraduate grades sooner than this!
If your home university insists that your postgraduate grades must be issued sooner than this, please speak to the school secretary of the academic department(s) delivering the module(s).
It may be possible for them to issue an interim letter containing the grades.
