Changing your Courses
It is possible to change modules within the first three weeks of each semester.
We call this process `Module Add/Drop´. It means that, if you realise a module is not for you, you can `drop it´ from the list of courses you registered for and `add´ a new one in its place.
Of course, you cannot keep changing courses during the entire semester, so the final day for adding and dropping modules is Friday 12 October (Autumn semester modules) or Friday 22 February (Spring semester modules).
How do I add and drop modules?
- You must first download an ‘Add/Drop Form' (to the right of this web page)
- Secondly, complete your personal details and fill in the full details of the modules you are adding and dropping
- You must then obtain a signature next to each module from a member of staff within the academic department that delivers it
- Next, sign the Add/Drop Form at the bottom and ask your departmental Erasmus tutor to sign on behalf of the ‘Department Responsible for the Programme of Study’
- Finally, take the completed Add/Drop Form to the Student Services Information Desk (SSID), Ground Floor, Students’ Union and hand it to a member of staff
Your university record will be updated within a couple of weeks from receipt of the Add/Drop Form.
Can I change any courses after the Add/Drop deadline?
You can only 'drop' courses after the deadline as it will be too difficult to catch up with a new one at that stage.
Please note that you must always have a maximum of 60 Sheffield credits (30 ECTS) on your university record and a minimum of 40 credits (20 ECTS).
If you drop a course and go below 60 credits, you must obtain a letter from your home university approving this and present it alongside your completed Add/Drop Form to the Student Services Information Desk.
