English and Theatre
There is a long tradition of practical theatre work here in the School of English, going back before we moved into the Theatre Workshop in 1978.
Our single honours degree allows students to study both literature and theatre practice. Two core modules are taken each semester, one in literature and the other in theatre practice, plus a third approved module chosen from either field.

We also offers a popular postgraduate programme strongly rooted in the academic and practical expertise of the staff team. The MA in Theatre and Performance Studies is a practice-based course exploring diverse forms of contemporary theatre, such as devised performance and live art; community and applied theatres; new playwriting; classic texts on the contemporary stage; and documentary and verbatim theatre. The MA engages with current issues in performance theory and practice, and brings students into contact with practising theatre-makers and arts organisations.
