The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)
The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) is a test from Cambridge ESOL designed to help you prove how much you know about teaching English as a second language. |
What are the parts of the TKT?The three core tests of the TKT are;Module 1 This multiple-choice test assesses your knowledge of language and how language is taught and learned. Module 2 This multiple-choice test assesses how much you know about planning lessons and using resources for langauge teaching. Module 3 This multiple-choice test checks how much you know about managing teaching and learning. |
Who is the test for?TKT gives inexperienced teachers a strong foundation in the core areas of English language teaching. It allows more experienced teachers to prove how much they know about teaching English as a second language.Having taken the TKT, less experienced teachers may go on to take the CELTA, during which they can gain practical experience of English teaching. The TKT is designed for both native and non-native speakers of English, although we recommend that non-natives should have an IELTS/USEPT level of 6.0 in order to take the various TKT tests. |
