Applying for English Language Support courses
Registration for Semester 2 is now OPEN.
Semester 2 classes will START week beginning Monday, 13th February, 2012.
Please note that these classes are only available to registered University of Sheffield students.
All applications are processed through our online system. To make an application you will:
- provide personal information, including U-card number (if you already have one)
- complete a short English quiz (approx. 15 minutes)
- choose courses from the range available
You are strongly advised to refer to the information provided regarding our courses and decide which courses you want to apply for before beginning the application form. If you have any problems making your application please contact the ELT Centre's English Language Support team: els@sheffield.ac.uk.
Personal Information
You will be required to enter personal information including your U-card number and email address. This data will be stored securely and will be used only for purposes relating to the in-sessional programme.
English Quiz
You will be asked to complete a 30-item English quiz on-line. The quiz is designed to assist us in selecting a suitable class for you. Please do not use any reference material (e.g. dictionary, text books, web pages, friends) when completing the quiz.
After you apply
When you have completed your application you should print out the final page of information.
You will receive one email confirming the details of your application. You will then receive a subsequent email on the next Friday afternoon informing you of whether there is a place on the course. If there is no space you will be put onto a waiting list and emailed when one becomes available.
