International Summer School Social Programme

Throughout the Summer School a varied and interesting social programme is provided for all students. An example of a typical week's activities could include the following:

Monday evening:
Basketball
Tuesday evening: Reading for Fun Group
Activity in Student Accommodation, eg International Evening, sports competitions etc.
or
Activity in Sheffield, eg, Pub visits, Bowling, Dog Racing.
Wednesday afternoon: Half-day excursion: Visits to local places of interest
(STUDY English PLUS options students only)
Thursday afternoon: Football
Friday evening: Barbecue and disco in Student Union
or
Activity in Sheffield, eg, Ice-skating, Pub visits, Cinema.
Saturday: Full-day excursion to places such as York, Manchester,Leeds, Liverpool,Scarborough, Blackpool etc.
Sunday: Film Night

All students are entitled to use the University sports facilities on a pay-per-use basis of around £3-9 per hour depending on activity.
Our Social Organisers will accompany students and can also help arrange other activities and trips.
Many activities are free but a small charge (£5) is made towards the cost of the Saturday excursions and some other activities require an admission fee of about £3-7 (e.g.cinema, ice-skating or bowling).
