High Resolution Nano-Wires
Gold wires with a width of ~25nm have been fabricated using EBL and metal lift-off, as pictured below. In addition, gold dots with a diameter of ~40nm (not pictured) have been obtained with the same method. Such structures represent the smallest features that can be routinely fabricated with the Raith 150 using standard resist and metalisation techniques.
Similar structures are being used to control the placement of light-emitting biological molecules that have been chemically engineered to bond selectively to gold surfaces.
