Electrical Engineering with Foundation Year
A foundation year is provided, on a University-wide basis, for students with inappropriate prior qualifications or to mature candidates. Essentially, for Electronic and Electrical Engineering, this provision is for students who do not possess Physics or Mathematics A-levels (or equivalents) but who have displayed adequate proficiency in their previous courses of study and examinations. It must be stressed that this in not a remedial route for those students who have studied for but not attained sufficiently high grade in Mathematics or Physics A-levels, for example.
The module structure of the foundation year is
- PMA008 (Mathematics I)
- AMA008 (Mathematics II)
- PHY001 (Heat and Matter)
- PHY002 (Waves and Electricity)
- CHM001 (Foundations of Chemistry I)
- CHM002 (Foundations of Chemistry II)
On successfully completing the foundation year, students may progress to Year 1 of their chosen degree.
