Centre for the Study of Higher Education

The Centre for the Study of Higher Education includes 6 academic staff, and around 30 affiliated doctoral students. Our work over recent years has included a broad range of related studies such as
- Higher education policy
- Access and barriers to participation in Higher Education and Lifelong Learning
- Pedagogy and ‘teaching excellence’
- Professionalism of Higher Education teachers
There are well-developed links with users and Masters programmes in the areas of Policy and Practice and in Educational Research. These two Masters programmes attract students locally, nationally and internationally and derive from the internationally renowned work of the tutors involved. Doctoral Programmes include the EdD Sheffield and the EdD in Higher Education (Dublin) as well as part time and full time PhD programmes.
