MA IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

This MA in Educational Research is designed for those who have an interest in contemporary issues and debates relating to educational research. Our aim is to encourage students in developing a critical approach to research methods and methodologies. We equip students with practical and theoretical knowledge and with skills and techniques, which will enable them to become competent, informed, reflective and ethical researchers.

This MA course is particularly suitable for students contemplating progression onto doctoral research and is designed to introduce them to methods and approaches that will support future academic enquiry.

The course provides a friendly, supportive and stimulating environment which caters for students who aspire to a successful and productive learning experience. Small enough to benefit from individualised support, the course attracts students who are very positive and enthusiastic, and aim to carry out an interesting and worthwhile research project for the MA dissertation. The sessions are taught by a range of academics with strong research track records in the field. Students also benefit from tutorials aiming to support them in selecting their topics, preparing their assignments, identifying research questions, areas for literature review, carrying out field work, and reviewing drafts.
