Why Study Economics at Sheffield?

Here are just a few of the reasons:

92% student satisfaction

The National Student Survey results for 2011 place Sheffield second in the Russell Group of leading UK universities for overall satisfaction with Economics (one place behind Oxford). 92% of Sheffield Economics students in this survey of final year students agreed that they were satisfied with the quality of their course. The NSS results can be found on the Unistats website.

High quality, research-led teaching

Our academic staff are all active researchers working at the cutting edge of their respective fields. In addition, they play an active role in the provision of research and policy advice for all the major UK Government departments as well as for a number of international organisations such as the International Labour Organisation and the World Bank. As such, they are ideally equipped to bring the latest issues and techniques into the classroom.

Our courses are delivered in such a way as to help you take ownership of the tools and techniques of the economist. Teaching methods emphasise inquiry-based learning and the development of research skills. As a result, you will develop a range of skills which are highly valued by employers:
