The MSc Economics & Health Economics at the University of Sheffield is taught jointly by the Department of Economics and the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).
Health economics is a growing area in public policy, in academia, and in the private sector, with a national shortage of qualified specialists at post graduate level.
The course has been offered 4 UK studentships from 2011/12 for 3 years funded by the National Institute for Health Research.

This is a one-year masters level degree in health economics, aimed at those who wish to pursue careers as applied economists in the health sector, and at those who wish to continue with academic research.
Candidates must have a strong background in undergraduate level economics.

The MSc Economics & Health Economics at the University of Sheffield has formal postgraduate training recognition from the Economic and Social Research Council.
For those who are interested, there may be opportunities for PhD funding at the Department of Economics and at ScHARR after the completion of the MSc.
What does the studentship cover?
The studentship consists of a stipend and home student fees. The figures are £13,590 and £4,400 respectively for 2011/12, and these will be revised for later years.
