Economics postgraduate Maurizio IntartagliaMSc Economics

Our flagship taught postgraduate course, the MSc in Economics advances your analytical skills and allows you to specialise in your chosen area of economics or finance.

The degree prepares you for a career as an economist in commerce, academia or government. It also offers a solid grounding for students looking to continue exploring economics through a research degree.

The programme emphasises the development of all the skills required by modern economists. The core modules of MSc Economics provide the advanced skills in economic analysis and quantitative techniques. The optional modules, meanwhile, offer flexibility, allowing you to tailor the degree to your own needs and interests.

Content and structure

Study MSc Economics and you'll need to take and pass eight taught modules over two semesters, four in each. These are examined at the end of each semester. Four are core modules; the other four are chosen from option modules.

After you've completed the second semester's taught modules, there is a 10-week period to write your dissertation. We'll support you through dissertation workshops and input from your supervisory team. To be awarded the MSc in Economics you will have to pass the examinations and complete the dissertation to the required standard.

See below for details of the core and optional modules across the two semesters.
