RAE outcome 2008
The Higher Education Funding Council carries out an assessment every five years and ranks Universities according to the quality of their research.
In the 2008 research assessment exercise (RAE) 70% of our research was graded as `world-leading´ or 'internationally excellent'. We were ranked 4th among the UK dental schools and were one of the top performing departments in the University of Sheffield. The research environment of the School was considered to be particularly strong, with 25% ranked as world leading. The sub-panel report commented on the School´s strong research infrastructure and our significant investment in research facilities.
