Biography

I joined the University of Sheffield in 2007 as a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry and have been closely involved in teaching and research at the School of Clinical Dentistry.

I am currently a Clinical Lecturer and Specialist Registrar in Restorative Dentistry and my main activities include clinical and laboratory teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate dental students, treatment of patients with advanced restorative needs referred by General Dental Practitioners and research within the oral biomaterial and tissue engineering group.

Research Interests

I am interested in multidisciplinary research in the field of dental biomaterials and tissue engineering. My main research activities fall into four different categories:

See:
Centre for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering:
http://www.cbte.group.shef.ac.uk/research/te6.html
and
Bioengineering and Health Technologies Research Group

Teaching Interests

My main teaching activities include:

  1. Clinical and laboratory teaching of undergraduate BDS dental students
  2. Clinical teaching of post-graduate taught (MMedSci) students
  3. Student research project supervision including Masters and PhD projects

Professional activities

Reviewer for several dental journals including:

  1. Journal of Dental Research
  2. International Journal of Artificial Organs
  3. Journal of Oral Surgery
  4. European Journal of Oral Sciences
  5. Dental Materials

Member of the following learned societies:

  1. International Association of Dental Research (IADR)
  2. European Society for Biomaterials (ESB)
  3. British Society for Dental Research (BSDR)
  4. UK Society for Biomaterials (UKSB)
