Applications invited for new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Chair positions
The Department of Computer Science is enhancing and expanding its internationally leading, multi-disciplinary research portfolio with the addition of three academic posts.
Applications are invited from outstanding individuals in any area of Computer Science for appointment at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Chair level. The intention is to make one Chair appointment. We are committed to diversifying our research base whilst maintaining our high standards, and these posts have been introduced as part of our strategic action to achieve this.
Candidates will have a track record of internationally leading research, and as a Chair candidate, will have a record of attracting substantial research funding. Applications are welcome from areas that strengthen our research portfolio (e.g. Software Engineering) as well as those which add a new multi-disciplinary edge to our research. Examples of areas with potential for growth include, but are not restricted to, the following:
- Cognitive robotics and perception, with links to work in the EEE, Psychology and ACSE departments.
- Computational neuro-linguistics, which would link with our Natural Language
Processing and Speech and Hearing research groups, and to work in the departments
of Psychology, ACSE and HCS.
- Agent-based modelling and simulation, linking to our Verification and Testing group.
- Multiscale modelling in medicine and biology, which would link to work in the Faculties of Engineering and Medicine.
- Assistive technology and digital healthcare, which would link to our Speech and
Hearing group and the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).
We would also favourably consider research groups wishing to relocate, and can provide the support and facilities necessary to assist with this move.
The closing date for applications is 22nd April 2011.
