PSP Award for Mainframe Computing Student

Alfonso Sosa has been awarded a Sony PSP from IBM for writing the best essay for the Mainframe Computing module. Alfonso was presented with his award by Joseph Chacko from IBM (pictured left).

The Mainframe Computing was run for the first time this academic year, in conjunction with IBM. Phil McMinn is the lecturer in charge of the module, which featured a site visit to HBOS; who like similar organisations depend on the reliability and transaction processing power of the mainframe for its global operations. The module also consisted of lectures given by IBM staff and practical lab sessions on an IBM Mainframe.
