30 April 2004 Our students come 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Microsoft's Imagine CupThe Imagine Cup UK is a student programming contest, run by Microsoft and open to full and part time undergraduate and postgraduate students aged 18 and over studying at any University in the United Kingdom. This year of the 29 UK finalists 6 were from this Department, the largest cohort from a single institution. |
The finals were held in Oxfordshire on the 4th - 6th April. The winning team, which will represent the UK at the World Finals in Brazil, includes Ali Gardezi from this department. There were only 3 people in Ali's team (there were 6 other teams, 2 with 5 members and 4 with 4 members), so it's an even greater achievement. Sheffield was also represented in the teams that came second (David Rogers) and third (Simon Matthews) in the UK finals. |

Ali took part in the world finals in Brazil in July. The French team won. |
