Achim Paetzold

Achim is currently a Research Fellow in the Catchment Science Centre. He has a PhD of Sciences from the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Science and Technology), Zurich, Switzerland.

Achim is interested in the role of spatial resource flows across ecosystem boundaries and the functional linkages of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Achim has particular experience in the application of stable isotopes in food web studies. His research involves large-scale comparative field studies and experimental manipulations in the field to understand riverine ecosystem processes at the landscape scale. Recently, he has become interested in novel approaches to the functional assessment of riverine ecosystems with emphasis on ecosystem services. This includes understanding the processes that control the provision of ecosystem services at the catchment scale.
