Natasha is a PhD student within the Catchment Science
Centre. Her principal research interest is focused on the interactive modelling for bridging scientific knowledge with the interests of agri-sector.

Biography

Natasha graduated in 2006 from the Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University and Kiev Institute for
Humanities and Social Sciences (extramural). In Bila Tserkva, she did her both BSc and MSc degrees at the Department of Genetics and Selection, where she participated in experiments to track the responses of a genome to stresses, to which plant doesn`t respond in an orderly manner. Some familiar examples of these stresses are the production of mutation by X-rays and by some mutagenic agents. Unusual responses of plants
(picture on left) were recorded and observed repeatedly. These experiments are described in her Master thesis "The cytogenetic influence of chemical mutagens on the quality of germination of Triticum aestivum plants" (National Student Competition Award 2003, Dnepropetrovsk).

Her undergraduate work has evolved into the interest of how the induced plants´ responses vary due to geo-climatic conditions, and thus, started to require more interdisciplinary knowledge. So, after the award of the Scholarship of French Government, she decided to pursue her studies in Montpellier to get a Master degree in the Information Systems for Land Management. Her Master thesis "Introduction de la géomatique dans l`enseignement supérieur agronomique ukrainien" has proposed the new approaches for agricultural scientific analyses integrated with GIS and spatial systems for Ukrainian Universities; and was put in a basis for European-Ukrainian Tempus TACIS project "EduSIG".
