Anna Ritchie

Ann Ritchie Snorkelling

Anna is a Marie Curie Early Stage Training Fellow studying for a PhD within the Catchment Science Centre. Based in the Department Animal and Plant Sciences, Anna is part of the CatSci group working on the integrated study of the River Don catchment.

Anna graduated with a BSc in Zoology in 2003 from the University of Washington (Washington State, USA), and an MSc in Forest Resources in 2007. Her Master´s thesis examined the spatial distribution of freshwater fish in tropical headwater streams of Costa Rica. From 2001 to 2006 she worked with various agencies and organizations in Washington and Idaho on salmonid habitat and stream restoration monitoring projects.

Anna´s current interests are in examining the different aspects of hyporheic ecology with a focus on hyporheic invertebrate community structure response to different natural and anthropogenic influences.
