Judging was carried out by academics, researchers and Energy Institute branch members. The judges had a very difficult job as all the posters were professionally presented and the students on hand to discuss their work. The three prize winners were:
1st Marios Georgiades for “Design of a neutralisation and precipitation process for aqueous metal waste generated by the Sheffield Assay Office”
2nd Fathia El-Furjani for “Metal emissions from waste combustion systems”
3rd Winson Chung for “High temperature electrolysis to fuel the hydrogen economy”
Along with certificates and one-year’s free membership for all three prize winners, the first prize also included a cheque for £100, and the second prize a cheque for £50. The participating students were encouraged and motivated by the participation of the Energy Institute in this event.
The course director, Professor Vida Sharifi, thanked the Yorkshire Branch for supporting the event and said “Our MSc students did very much appreciate the opportunity to put up their posters and discuss various aspects of their research work with others. Those who attended the event were very impressed with the top quality research work carried out by this group of students and we all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get together with them.”
