Involvement within Clinical Psychology Training and Research
Sheffield University DClin Psy training course values the opportunity to work in partnership and consultation with service users, carers and community representatives and sees this as being at the heart of developing current and future mental health services.
Clinical Psychology trainees need to develop an understanding and appreciation of the needs of service users who may have a diverse range of cultural, ethnic, family and social backgrounds and beliefs. The training course enjoys positive working relationships with service users and community representatives, with involvement and consultation primarily being provided in the selection of trainees, teaching and research.
There are many ways in which you can become involved:
- Teaching trainees about service user needs and perspectives
- Selection
- Research - including suggesting areas for research; assisting in reviewing materials such as information sheets and participating in ongoing projects.Find out more about our current research interests and ongoing projects
- Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Subcommittee
We need to think creatively together about how service users and carers and the wider community may become involved in Clinical Training Placements and other activities and to define the role you may wish to take. If you have any other ideas about how you could become involved, please get in touch.
If you are a service user, carer or an interested member of the community who wishes to share their skills, perspective or expertise to contribute to the professional and personal development of Trainee Clinical Psychologists, please contact Kath Boon, Clinical Tutor, tel: 0114 222 6570, email k.boon@sheffield.ac.uk or Andrew Thompson, Director of Research Training, tel: 0114 222 6637, email a.r.thomspon@sheffield.ac.uk
