“I believe that good architecture is teamwork, but not the work of an architect-only team.”
Renzo Piano

We are very proud of our unique and innovative courses that span between the disciplines of Engineering and Architecture providing students with the skills to design and engineer buildings. These courses have recently been honoured by the Royal Academy of Engineering who have awarded us the title of a "Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Design".

We run two undergraduate Masters programmes that span the two departments: Structural Engineering and Architecture and Architectural Engineering.

Career Options

The two degree programmes provide you with the skills to work in teams to produce great architecture. However, the two programmes differ in the roles they will train you for, as shown below.

Engineering with Architecture Options

Architectural Engineering covers all the engineering disciplines associated with buildings and their infrastructure, alongside an appreciation of architecture. The combination of these skills will enable you develop a career engineering high quality buildings so they have a minimal impact on the environment.

Structural Engineering and Architecture focuses particularly on integrating these two disciplines with an awareness of environmental building design. This allows you to follow a career as either a Structural Engineer or an Architect.
