MEng Civil Engineering with a Modern Language (Accredited CEng Full) H2T9
This course offers the opportunity to study a language alongside technical civil engineering subjects. You will study the language of your choice for the first two years and the third year, which is fully integrated into the MEng programme, is spent studying civil engineering in your chosen language at one of Europe's top universities. These currently include universities in Barcelona and Granada in Spain; Aachen in Germany, Lyon in France, and Padua and Trento in Italy. As a fourth year student you will continue your language studies by taking either project-based language modules or a taught course on language for business.
You may be entitled to an Erasmus grant for every month spent abroad, depending on your destination, to help with the additional costs of studying overseas. You do not have to pay any fees to the partner university, and by spending a full academic year abroad, you do not have to pay any UK tuition fees for that year either. You will continue to receive any student loan you are entitled to.
There is a great shortage in the UK construction industry of linguists who are also numerate. Upon graduating you will join a small engineering elite who have a technical fluency in at least two major international languages, giving you wide-ranging employment opportunities throughout the EU and the rest of the world.
This degree is accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) Eur Ing qualifications.
See www.jbm.org.uk for further information.

This degree has been accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.
