Foundation Year - Civil Engineering H201

Geotechnics 2You may find that the qualifications you have achieved or are studying for do not provide you with the preparation needed to embark on a civil engineering degree course. Perhaps you have been away from education for some years or your A-Level grades are not in the required subjects. The Foundation Year provides a one-year intensive course to give you the necessary background to enable you to follow any of our undergraduate degree programmes (except Structural Engineering and Architecture HK21).

You will attend lectures in physics, chemistry and mathematics, and perform experimental work in laboratory classes. In addition, weekly tutorials give you the opportunity for individual consultation with lecturers and an introduction to the profession as a whole. The objective of the year is to develop a high level of knowledge in mathematics and fundamental science at the equivalent of A-Level. Subject to passing all three subjects you will then be asked to choose which of our courses you would like to register for.  You can find more information about the foundation year course content here.

Entry Requirements

3 A2 levels (ABB) + GCSE grade B in maths & science. Please note, you cannot apply for this course if you have studied A2 level maths.
