Students in labThe essentials

All our courses give you a strong grounding in the main areas of civil engineering: structures, water, geotechnics and environmental issues. We'll also teach you how to think about problems from a sustainable point of view, to inspire and prepare you for the complex environmental and social challenges of this century.

Your choice

We offer a comprehensive range of courses – including combinations with architecture, mechanical engineering or a modern language. Each has been designed to cover a particular specialism.

Students around tableLed by design

We're renowned for our teaching of design. In your third year, we'll challenge you to tackle a real-world problem in a semester-long design project. Working with other students and industry representatives, you'll find imaginative and innovative solutions to the types of social, ethical and environmental problems faced by professionals.

Students around deskIndustry focus

We're proud of our strong links with industry. The experience and expertise of leading consultants, contractors and specialist engineers feed directly into your degree. As well as your own personal tutor, you'll be assigned an industrial tutor, a working professional who meets with you to offer insight and encouragement.

Our partner companies contribute to teaching through lectures, design classes, projects and site visits. They help us develop our courses, so what we teach is always relevant. We'll also teach you how to use industry-standard software and work on projects as you would in industry.
