Performance of Cellular Composite Floor Beams under Severe Fire Conditions

This project includes investigation of the performance and failure mechanisms of composite cellular floor beams at elevated temperatures.

Project Aims:

• To investigate the performance and failure mechanisms of composite cellular floor beams at elevated temperatures.
• To develop a configurable finite element model for the 3D behaviour of composite cellular beams and validate against the isolated beam tests.
• To extend the modelling to cover the whole practical range of design parameters.
• To develop simplified mechanical models of the behaviour and to propose design procedures based on these models.
