High Frequency Floors
The vibration of floors can be split into two categories, high frequency and low frequency. Low frequency floors are considered to act harmonically with resonance as the main concern. High frequency floors are considered to act transiently. The main concern on high frequency floor is the impact from a footfall. My research is concerned with the dynamics of high frequency floors. Design guides and vibration criteria exist to which structures must adhere to, but are less then perfect. I will be primarily concerned with the loading on the floor, how the impulsive force of the footfall dissipates through the structure and how the generalisation of high and low frequency floors effect the predicted response. I would also like to offer suggestions to improve the current design criteria
