Ultrasound mediated gene transfer in bacteria
Employing a novel method to transfer plasmids between bacteria using ultrasound to improve biodegradation in contaminated soils and water. Followed by the insertion of extracted DNA and RNA and the potential to synthesise chemicals and proteins from bacterial 'factories'.
Ultrasound provides a method of gene transfer without the restrictions of existing methods whilst boasting an improved transfer rate. Thus providing a wide range of applications in industry, healthcare and laboratory work.
