Funded PhD Opportunities in Civil and Structural Engineering
EPSRC DTG Studentships
The Department expects to allocate three EPSRC Doctoral Training Grant (DTG) studentships for 2012/13. These studentships provide standard research council support (home fees plus maintenance of £13,590 per year) for 3.5 years.
APPLICATIONS FOR 2012 ARE NOW OPEN
Eligibility
The awards are available as follows:
- Home student – Full fees and maintenance for 3.5 years
- Home student – Part fees and maintenance (at least 50%) for 3.5 years
- EU student – Fees only
Note that an EU student who has been ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK for 3 years prior to the award (including for the purposes of education) is eligible for a full ‘home’ award, so long as they have no restrictions on how long they can stay in the UK.
These scholarships are highly-competitive. You must have, or expect to receive, qualifications at least equivalent to a UK MEng/BEng First Class (70%+) or Distinction at MSc level. In some cases IIi/Merit applicants with strong evidence of research potential will also be considered.
Applications Process
The closing date for applications is 29 June 2012.
Please note that applications must be made by academic supervisors on behalf of potential students.
If you wish to be considered for a scholarship, please liaise directly with potential supervisor(s) to agree a project description and to secure an offer of a place to study with us.
If you are already holding an offer to study with us, please liaise directly with your intended supervisor to ensure that they apply for the scholarship on your behalf.
