Study options
The postgraduate training provided by these courses is available in various study options. Depending on your interests and career development needs, you can study for a qualification leading to
- MSc
- Postgraduate Diploma
- Postgraduate Certificate
Each taught module in the programme is worth 10 credits, whereas the dissertation is worth 60 credits. Students on the MSc programme complete 120 credits (12 taught modules plus a dissertation). Students on the Postgraduate Diploma programme complete 120 credits (12 taught modules only) and students on the Postgraduate Certificate programme complete 60 credits (6 taught modules only) to obtain these qualifications. If you are registered for a Postgraduate Diploma you may upgrade to full MSc at the end of the Autumn semester, subject to satisfactory performance.
All our courses and study options can be completed on a full time or part time basis. Full time courses are completed within 1 year. Our part time courses offer you the flexibility to tailor your study around your work and other commitments, with two options
- Part time study over 2-3 years. You can split your study over a period of 2-3 years and complete the required modules when they appear in the curriculum, according to your availability. This suits working professionals who are then able to fit their studies around work constraints. It is not necessary to split study evenly and any number of modules can in principle be taken in each year, according to the curriculum. However, we do offer guidance on the recommended order that modules should be studied, since some build on knowledge gained in others.
- Flexible MSc over 5 years. You can spread your study programme over a period of up to 5 years. Modules can be completed in the same way as described for the 2-3 year part time option, but with maximum flexibility to tailor your training to suit your personal circumstances.
