Students Win Prizes at IStructE Young Researchers' Conference 2008

The tenth Young Researchers' Conference was held on 19 March 2008 at IStructE (Institution of Structural Engineers) in London. The conference provides an opportunity for PhD students in Structural Engineering to present their work and to network with peers. This year nine students were selected to give an oral presentation of their work and twelve students gave a poster presentation of their work.

The Department was very well represented at the Conference, with oral presentations selected from Sohaib Ahmad and Yuan Yuan Song, and posters from Harris Angelakopoulos, Shan Shan Huang and Ying Hu.

The Department wishes to congratulate Ying (Andy) Hu who won First Prize for his poster, and Yuan Yuan Song who won Joint Second among the oral presentations. Congratulations are also due to our other presenters for being selected to present at the Conference from a large number of abstracts.

This is the third year in a row that we have won the poster competition.
