Connecting a Windows Vista PC to eduroam

The wireless network at Sheffield is called eduroam.

You can automatically set up your wireless connection by downloading the file in the top right hand box.

Alternatively you can follow the instructions below to set it up manually.

  1. Right click the network icon from the system tray and select Connect to a network.
  2. Select Manually connect to a wireless network - click Next.
  3. In the Network name: field type eduroam.
  4. From the Security type: drop menu select WPA-Enterprise.
  5. From the Encryption type: drop menu select TKIP - click Next. A new screen will indicate you have Successfully added eduroam<</li>
  6. Click Change connection setings, then the Security tab.
  7. Ensure that Security type: still displays WPA-Enterprise and Encryption type:displays TKIP.
  8. In the Choose a network authentication method: select Protected EAP (PEAP - then click the Settings button.

You should now be connected to the eduroam wireless network.
