Accessing Networked Filestore using CIFS

It is now possible for technical staff to install the Novell client for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions.

However, non-technical staff and students, as well as all users of Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic and Home Premium editions should access their networked filestore using CIFS instead.

Please follow the instructions below to connect.

1. You must first download and run the following registry file: Registry Update
2. When prompted click Run.
3. When prompted click Allow.
4. When prompted click Yes.
5. When prompted click Yes.
6. When prompted click OK.
7. Now go to the Start menu and in the search box type the name of the server you would like to connect to. For example \\bamford\ or \\yateholme\
8. When prompted enter your University username and password.

Your Shared Networked Filestore can be found in the folder SHARED. Your Personal Networked Filestore will be stored in a folder with the naming convention USR, USR1, USR2 etc.
