Access Grid
The Access Grid is an advanced video conference system where people in different locations meet in a pre-arranged `virtual venue´ using audio and video tools. These Access Grid sessions can send and receive multiple video screens creating a group-to-group collaboration environment. Applications can also be shared across the Access Grid such as presentations.
Features of the Access Grid are:
- Near natural sounding audio
- Large display to enable full-size people shots and simultaneous viewing of all remote sites
- Multiple cameras to show groups and multiple viewpoints
- Collaborative software to enable remote participants to share and interact with data (e.g. PowerPoint presentations)
- Desktop sharing to transmit multimedia to all remote sites instantly
- Instant messaging to chat with other remote sites without distrupting the conference
- Usage of IP multicast to enable bandwidth-efficient networking
- Ability to connect to other systems and desktop computers
