Thunderbird Extensions
Thunderbird Extensions are modules written by Thunderbird enthusiasts, which add new functionality to Thunderbird. The extensions listed here are safe to use, but they are not technically supported by CiCS.
To install an extension,
- Click the link on the page and choose to save the file to your hard disk.
- In Thunderbird, open Add-ons from the Tools menu.
- Click the Install button, and locate/select the file you downloaded and click "OK".
If you use a Managed XP computer, you will need to ask your departmental technician, as only staff with administrative privileges can install plug-ins to a
ManXP machine.
Glossaries - Textcomplete
The Text Complete extension adds glossaries to Thunderbird, and was "built to ease the typing required by support staff entering standard responses into a web based support system." It is available from:

Mail Merge - Mail tweak
Mail merge is available in a utility called mail tweak, which also contains options to confirm the send of a message, and to choose a folder to keep a copy of a sent message.
Mail Tweak is available from:
To use Mail Tweak, choose Tools – Add-ons. On the Extensions page, select Mail Tweak. Then press its Options button.
From here you can set up mail merge using Personalize messages. Write a message by choosing: Message – Personalize... You can address it to a list, or to individuals in your address book.
To send the message, press the Personalize button or choose: File – Personalize.
MailTweak creates an individual copy of the message for each recipient. The messages are placed in your Unsent folder, so if you wish you can review them before sending them.

Multiple Signatures
You can define multiple signatures, then select the one that you wish to use for the current message using the signature switch extension.
Bounce - Mail Redirect
If you receive a message that should have gone to someone else, you can bounce messages to the correct recipient. It is like forwarding a message but without leaving a trace of you on it. The forwarded message appears to come from the original sender.
