Print and Design Solutions

Description of Service

The function of the Print and Design Solutions is to provide an efficient, quality, secure and cost effective graphical, Digital copying/printing and offset printing service.

Client Groups/Eligibility for Services

University staff, students, community/visitors and external organisations.

Provider Responsibility

  1. To provide bespoke graphic design, large format poster printing, offset litho printing, print finishing, digital copying/printing, photography and student thesis binding.
  2. To maintain a secure environment for confidential and sensitive material.
  3. To provide an advisory service for print and print related activities.
  4. To provide a print estimating service.
  5. To provide a print buying service.
  6. To collect customers' print orders from designated points around campus.
  7. To deliver finished material to each customers department/porters lodge for finished material.
  8. To supply necessary materials to complete each job.
  9. To supply details of charges, invoices and notification of charges.
  10. To publish prices for common items and services e.g. stationery, duplicating, photoboards and thesis binding (see web pages/stationery packs/leaflets).
  11. To create a user friendly environment with named contacts.
  12. To schedule print work.
  13. To deliver finished goods within an agreed time-scale.

User Responsibility

  1. To supply an order in good time with details of work to be carried out, charge code, authorised signatory, a delivery address and delivery date.
  2. To supply artwork/text in an agreed electronic format or camera ready copy artwork.
  3. To proof read artwork before printing or forwarding to Print and Design Solutions.
  4. To notify us of any changes within the department, e.g. address, staff, charge codes.
  5. To ensure that funds are available to pay for services and materials ordered.

Availability of Service

Monday - Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Weekend work as necessary and shift working at peak times.

Closed Christmas Break from 24th December 12.00pm until first working day in January after New Year's Day. Closed all other Bank holidays.

Service Statistics/Outputs

Number of jobs completed each month.
Sales monthly.
Sales weekly average.
Number and cost of jobs requiring reprinting.
Type of jobs produced.
Top 10 spending customers.
Number of estimates produced.
% of estimated jobs won.
Annual financial management report.
Weekly production reports.
Management Information System that can provide detailed information upon request.

Service Measures

Customers' jobs will be delivered within mutually predetermined timescales.
Quality Control Check will be made at each production stage.

Dependencies

Suppliers of materials/goods, e.g. paper, ink, chemicals, printer materials etc.
University Postal Service delivering orders, proofs etc.

Feedback and Monitoring

Customer comment cards distributed periodically with completed jobs.

External organisations on-going.
