UCards

Description of Service

Support for the University's UCard service.

Client Groups/Eligibility for Services

All staff, registered students and other eligible users. Student UCards are distributed primarily at the Student Services Information Desk and also at the Computing Centre. Staff and External UCards are available only from the Computing Centre.

Provider Responsibility

  1. To provide all eligible applicants with a UCard.
  2. To produce batches of cards for new students in advance of their arrival and to distribute these throughout the Registration Event.
  3. To replace lost, stolen and damaged cards at a charge.
  4. To provide support and training to all staff involved in the production of UCards.
  5. To ensure integration of the UCard system with other University systems, eg access control and pre-pay printing.
  6. To co-ordinate the implementation of new uses for the cards as required.

User Responsibility

  1. To provide the necessary details, and authorisation where appropriate, when applying for an individual card.
  2. To report to Student Services (students) or Human Resources (staff) all changes to personal information.
  3. To use the card only for the purposes for which it was provided.
  4. To ensure that the card is not used by anyone other than the person named on the card.
  5. To keep the card in a safe place.
  6. To report and replace lost, stolen and damaged cards.
  7. To pay any fee levied for a replacement card.

Availability of Service

Batches of student cards are supplied to an agreed timetable.
Individual cards are available on request in person, subject to agreement by Registry Services for students, or production of appropriate identification/authorisation for staff and others.

Number of cards issued by category.
UCard statistics in the Annual Report and in reports for internal meetings.

Service Measures

UCards will be provided for 100% of eligible applicants.

Dependencies

The timely receipt of photographs and data for new students.
The timely receipt of updated data for re-registering students.
The timely creation of a full staff record by Human Resources.
Authorisation for external applicants.
