Most mobile phones offer some level of internet access, but the newest generation of high specification mobile phones offer full internet access. Your department can order a phone through CiCS, and take up a phone contract that has been negotiated for all public sector organisations.

There is now a great overlap between hand-help computers and high-specification mobile phones. The Palm Treo 750 is the CiCS recommended model.

3G (mobile) USB Modems
For areas where there is no wireless network, you can use a 3G modem to connect a laptop to the telephone network. The 3G modem uses a sim card and requires a monthly tariff, but for people who travel a lot it's an excellent way to stay connected.
