Overview

This project will initially deliver an upgrade of the existing Managed Service from Windows XP to Windows 7 and then subsequently introduce a new service for the remote delivery of applications. The project will also deliver a new managed image to facilitate teaching via laptops.

To date, the project has already delivered findings/analysis from surveys of students and academic staff, along with baseline measures relating to the performance of the existing managed service, which will be used for future benefits measurement. In addition, information has been gathered from other institutions that have made progress in delivering applications remotely.

The project will initially focus on upgrading the Managed Service to Windows 7 using the following approach:

On completion of the Windows 7 operational rollout, project work will focus on providing a new service to enable the remote delivery of applications.
